2012 Vauxhall Astra 1.4L Petrol · SV12 AEM

The vehicle maintains a clean roadworthiness status, with the most recent test on 11 February 2026 resulting in a pass with no recorded defects. While the car failed its initial attempts in both 2025 and 2026, these failures occurred within days of the successful tests and lacked recorded defects, suggesting these were likely administrative or testing anomalies rather than indicative of mechanical deterioration. The overall trend remains stable, as the vehicle has consistently cleared its annual inspections without recurring advisories regarding suspension, braking, or structural integrity. The recorded mileage of 100,174 over fourteen years equates to an average annual usage of approximately 7,155 miles, which aligns with typical expectations for a vehicle of this age. A notable acceleration in usage occurred between February 2025 and February 2026, during which the vehicle covered nearly 10,000 miles compared to the modest 1,619 miles recorded in the preceding twelve-month period. This recent increase in activity suggests the vehicle has moved from a period of light or intermittent use into more regular service, which is generally beneficial for preventing the issues associated with long-term standing. Prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on the condition of consumables and hidden wear, as the clean MOT history does not account for items like clutch bite point, gearbox smoothness, or engine oil leaks. Given the age of the Astra, check the underside for signs of corrosion on the sills and subframe, and verify the condition of the coil springs and suspension bushes, which often show age-related degradation not captured by basic test criteria. While the MOT record provides confidence in the vehicle's recent compliance, a thorough assessment of the timing belt service interval and the current state of the brake discs and pads remains essential to ensure long-term reliability.
