2017 Toyota Avensis 1.6L Diesel · SV17 YUN

The 2017 Toyota Avensis holds a current MOT certificate issued on 9 April 2026 at 91,177 miles, with the most recent advisory concerning rear brake pads wearing thin. The maintenance trend is stable, not deteriorating. The vehicle has passed every recorded test since 2022 without serious structural or mechanical failures. Advisories have been limited to predictable consumable wear items. No dangerous defects, corrosion-related failures, or emissions faults appear in the record, indicating consistent routine upkeep rather than neglect. The mileage progression is steady and typical for a nine-year-old vehicle. Annual accumulation averages roughly 10,131 miles, with increments of approximately 10,700 miles between the April 2022 and 2023 tests, 10,914 miles between 2023 and 2024, and 9,760 miles between 2024 and 2025. The most recent interval from April 2025 to April 2026 shows 9,760 miles covered. There are no anomalous gaps or sudden spikes in recorded distance that would suggest long periods of inactivity or odometer irregularities. The mileage pattern supports regular daily use rather than prolonged standing, which reduces the likelihood of deterioration from seized components or fuel system issues. Buyers should focus their in-person inspection on the braking system. Rear brake pads were flagged as wearing thin in both the April 2024 and April 2026 tests, and the April 2024 test also identified worn rear brake discs alongside thin front pads. This pattern suggests the rear braking circuit has experienced sustained heavy use or delayed pad replacement. A physical check of rear disc thickness, caliper slide pin operation, and handbrake mechanism function is advisable. Front brake condition should also be verified, given the advisory recorded in April 2024. Tyre condition warrants attention as well. The nearside front tyre was noted as worn close to the legal limit or worn on edge in both April 2023 and April 2025, pointing to a recurring alignment or suspension geometry issue. A buyer should inspect the nearside inner sidewall for edge wear patterns and check front wheel alignment, tracking, and suspension bushes for play. The tyre wear pattern is minor in isolation but recurring, suggesting a tracking or strut issue that may have persisted across ownership. Overall, the record reflects a mechanically sound vehicle with no structural or emissions concerns, but the repeated brake and tyre advisories indicate consumable items that require timely attention.
