2017 Audi A3 1.6L Diesel · SV67 OYY

The vehicle most recently passed its MOT on 31 August 2026, although this followed an initial failure due to an ineffective nearside windscreen wiper. The overall maintenance trend appears to be declining rather than stable. There is a recurring pattern of brake disc wear that has persisted since 2025, and the most recent test has introduced multiple advisories regarding tyre perishing. This suggests a reactive approach to vehicle upkeep where components are left to deteriorate until they are flagged by an inspector, rather than being replaced as part of a preventative maintenance schedule. The recorded mileage of 114,579 miles over approximately nine years equates to an annual average of roughly 12,731 miles. This is considered high usage for this class of vehicle. Such mileage levels typically result in accelerated wear on critical consumables and structural components, including suspension bushes, engine mounts, and drivetrain linkages. A buyer should anticipate that the vehicle is entering a phase of its lifecycle where more significant mechanical interventions are likely required to maintain its roadworthiness and refinement. Detailed attention must be paid to the braking system and tyres. The brake discs have been recorded as worn, pitted, or scored for two consecutive years, indicating they are nearing the end of their functional life. During a test drive, the buyer should listen for grinding noises and feel for any shudder or pulsation through the brake pedal, which would confirm the need for immediate replacement of the discs and pads. Additionally, the recent advisories for cracking and perishing on the nearside front and both rear tyres indicate that the rubber compound is degrading. Inspect the tyre sidewalls for fine weather-cracking, as perishing can lead to structural failure regardless of the remaining tread depth. Given the high mileage, a comprehensive physical inspection of the chassis and suspension is essential. The buyer should listen for clunks or knocks when driving over uneven surfaces, which often indicates worn coil springs or fatigued suspension bushes. It is also critical to verify the service history to ensure that calendar-based and mileage-based fluid changes have been performed, specifically checking for the replacement of the timing belt and water pump if applicable to this engine. Finally, inspect the engine bay for oil leaks and verify the health of the 12V battery to ensure the electrical system has not been compromised by age and high usage.
