2014 Vauxhall Astra 1.2L Diesel · VE14 ADV

The vehicle, a 2014 Vauxhall Astra, has been deemed roadworthy in its most recent MOT test on 2026-05-29 at 101,893 miles. However, the maintenance trend is concerning, as the vehicle has shown a pattern of recurring faults, particularly with its tyres and brakes. In the 2022 MOT, the vehicle failed due to worn tyres, and in the 2019 MOT, a fractured rear coil spring and thinning brake pads were reported. Although these issues have been addressed and the vehicle has passed subsequent MOTs, the repeated advisories suggest a potential underlying problem that may require closer inspection. The recorded mileage of 101,893 miles, accumulated over approximately 12 years, is roughly typical for its age, with an average annual mileage of around 8,491 miles. However, there are some notable gaps in the MOT record, particularly between 2018 and 2022, where the mileage increased by 53,269 miles in just four years. This rapid accumulation of mileage may indicate a period of more frequent use or potentially neglected maintenance. A buyer should inspect the vehicle's tyres and brakes in person, paying close attention to the condition of the rear coil springs, brake pads, and discs. The vehicle's suspension and steering system should also be examined for any signs of wear or damage, given the history of a fractured rear coil spring. Additionally, the vehicle's exhaust emissions and structural integrity should be checked for any signs of corrosion or damage. Furthermore, the vehicle's electrical and lighting systems should be inspected, particularly the headlamps, which were reported to be out of alignment in the 2017 MOT. A thorough examination of the vehicle's overall condition, including any signs of wear or damage, is essential to ensure its continued roadworthiness and prevent potential safety issues.
