2007 Peugeot Speedfight 0.0L Petrol · VU07 ECD

The most recent MOT certificate for this Peugeot Speedfight was issued on 24 August 2022, resulting in a pass with no recorded defects or advisories. While this indicates the vehicle was in a roadworthy condition at the time of testing, the absence of recent MOT data leading up to September 2026 suggests a potential gap in formalised regulatory oversight. Based strictly on the available records, the maintenance trend appears stable, though the lack of recent testing means the current structural and mechanical integrity cannot be verified through official DVSA documentation alone. The recorded mileage of 18,562 miles is remarkably low for a nineteen-year-old vehicle, representing an annual average of approximately 977 miles. This usage profile indicates the vehicle has likely been subject to long periods of inactivity or seasonal storage rather than regular commuting. While low mileage typically equates to less wear on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain, it introduces specific risks associated with stationary storage, such as the degradation of seals, the settling of fluids, and the potential for component seizure due to a lack of regular lubrication and movement. Given the low usage and clean MOT history, a prospective buyer must prioritise inspections related to age-related perishing rather than mechanical wear. Closely examine the tyre sidewalls for signs of cracking or perishing, as rubber compounds degrade over time regardless of tread depth. Check the brake discs for heavy surface corrosion and test the braking system for any signs of binding calipers or uneven deceleration, which can occur when components remain stationary for extended periods. It is also essential to verify the service history regarding time-based maintenance, specifically the replacement of hygroscopic brake fluid, engine oil, and coolant, as these fluids degrade chemically over time even if the vehicle is rarely driven. During a test drive, listen for any irregular clunks from the suspension bushes or coil springs, which may have hardened or perished. Inspect all rubber hoses, such as fuel lines and vacuum hoses, for brittleness or splitting. Ensure the 12V battery has been regularly maintained, as deep discharge cycles from long-term standing can lead to permanent capacity loss. Finally, check for any fluid leaks around the engine and suspension components, as dried seals can fail once the vehicle is reintroduced to regular use.
