2004 Vauxhall Astra 2.2L Petrol · VX54 ASH

The 2004 Vauxhall Astra presents a stable roadworthiness profile, with all five consecutive MOT tests from 2021 to 2025 recording no defects. The most recent test on 2025-06-20 at 53,249 miles confirmed compliance, indicating consistent maintenance and no emerging mechanical issues. The absence of advisories or failures across this period suggests the vehicle has been well-maintained, with no recurring faults requiring corrective action. The mileage progression shows a steady annual increase of approximately 1,000–1,200 miles, culminating in 53,249 miles at 22 years old. This low mileage aligns with infrequent use or prolonged periods of inactivity, which can lead to component stiffness or fluid degradation. Notably, the 2021–2022 gap saw a 2,834-mile jump from 47,055 to 49,889 miles, raising questions about usage patterns. While the MOT history lacks anomalies, the low annual average implies potential risks to suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake system integrity due to limited operational stress. A buyer should prioritize a hands-on inspection of the suspension and braking systems, as these components may exhibit hidden wear from inactivity. Corrosion in body panels and underbody structures is also a concern for a vehicle of this age, particularly if stored in damp conditions. The absence of exhaust emissions or structural integrity issues in MOT records is reassuring, but a professional assessment of tyre condition, steering linkage, and fluid systems is recommended to confirm the vehicle’s mechanical health beyond recorded tests.
