2012 Mercedes-Benz E 2.1L Diesel · WJ12 BCU

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status based on the most recent MOT history. The latest test on 14 March 2025 at 300,125 miles resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, following a failure just one mile prior. This initial failure likely indicated a minor component issue, such as a blown bulb or a minor sensor fault, which was immediately rectified. Since the 2021 test, the car has maintained a clean record without any advisories or failures, suggesting a consistent level of mechanical upkeep despite the high usage. The mileage profile is exceptionally heavy for a fourteen-year-old Mercedes Benz, averaging over 21,000 miles per annum. Between October 2021 and March 2023, the vehicle covered 10,648 miles in roughly 17 months, indicating high-frequency motorway use. The interval between February 2024 and March 2025 saw a further 21,117 miles in just one year. This rapid accumulation places significant stress on the drivetrain, engine components, and suspension bushings, which typically reach the end of their service life much sooner on such vehicles. A physical inspection must focus on the wear and tear components associated with high-mileage operation. The buyer should check for play in the front control arms, shock absorbers, and bushings, as these often degrade after three hundred thousand miles. The braking system requires close scrutiny for caliper binding or thin disc rotors, given the consistent heavy load. Considering the age and mileage, the structural integrity of the chassis should also be verified for corrosion, particularly around mounting points where high road spray accumulation can expose the metal to accelerated degradation.
