2010 Audi A6 3.0L Diesel · X9 CHW

The 2010 Audi A6 has maintained a clean MOT history across five consecutive tests, all passing without defects or advisories. The most recent inspection on October 27, 2025, confirmed no issues at 87,279 miles, reinforcing a stable roadworthiness trend over the past 18 months. While this suggests consistent compliance with basic MOT standards, the absence of advisories does not preclude underlying wear—particularly in high-mileage components like suspension bushes, coil springs, or brake calipers—which may not yet have manifested as testable failures but could require proactive assessment. The recorded mileage of 87,279 miles over 16 years equates to approximately 5,455 miles annually, which is unusually low for a vehicle of this age. This pattern implies either infrequent use, prolonged periods of storage, or potential underreporting. Notably, the largest mileage jump occurred between the 2021 and 2022 tests, where the odometer increased by 4,585 miles in just over a year—a relatively modest but observable acceleration. The consistent 12-month intervals between tests further indicate regular MOT compliance, though the lack of advisories or defects does not guarantee the vehicle has been maintained beyond statutory requirements. Given the age and mileage, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of suspension integrity, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, which are prone to fatigue in this model. The brakes, while not failing in tests, may exhibit uneven wear or binding calipers—common in high-mileage Audi A6s—so a professional brake system check is essential. Structural corrosion, particularly around wheel arches, subframes, and sills, should also be scrutinised, as prolonged low-mileage periods can accelerate rust development in exposed areas. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions components warrant attention, as catalytic converter efficiency can degrade silently over time without triggering MOT failures.
