2016 Aprilia SR50 0.0L Petrol · YA16 RBX

The latest MOT test for the 2016 APRILIA SR50 was completed on 2025-05-17 and resulted in a PASS, indicating that the vehicle met all regulatory standards at that time. However, the recent history shows a FAILED MOT on 2022-01-18, which suggests a potential lapse in maintenance or component wear that required attention. This inconsistency warrants careful scrutiny, especially given the car’s age and mileage. The vehicle has accumulated 15,086 miles over approximately 10 years, which translates to roughly 1,509 miles per year—considering its age, this rate is relatively low and may point to conservative driving habits or extended periods of inactivity. Such a pace could affect suspension components, brake wear, and drivetrain longevity, so it’s prudent to assess these systems during the inspection. The mileage figure, while not excessively high, should be evaluated in context of the vehicle’s build quality and usage patterns. At 15,086 miles, the car has likely seen moderate wear on critical elements like the suspension bushings, coil springs, and brake discs. A lack of defects in recent tests does not necessarily guarantee future reliability, especially if the vehicle has been stored or driven infrequently. The absence of recurring issues in the past two MOTs is encouraging, but it’s essential to verify that no hidden problems have developed since the last service. Inspectors should pay particular attention to the condition of the tyres, checking for any signs of perishing or uneven wear patterns that could indicate alignment issues or excessive load. For buyers, the advice hinges on the mileage and maintenance record. Given the clean MOT history, the focus should shift to practical checks appropriate for an older model. Verify the battery health, as age-related degradation can impact starting performance and electrical systems. Examine the brake discs for any corrosion or binding, which could affect stopping power. Inspect the suspension for any clunking noises or uneven movement, and confirm that the tyres are not showing excessive wear on the sidewalls. Additionally, ensure that all fluid levels are within specification and that service book stamps are present to confirm regular maintenance. These steps will help identify any emerging concerns before the vehicle is driven. Overall, while the recent MOT passed and the vehicle has a solid maintenance record, the accumulated mileage and the isolated failure in the past year demand a thorough examination. Buyers should be vigilant about wear indicators and ensure that all systems are functioning within expected parameters. This approach will mitigate risks associated with age-related deterioration and provide confidence in the car’s long-term performance.
