2008 Vauxhall Astra 1.7L Diesel · YC08 MKZ

The vehicle currently holds a roadworthy status following a clean pass in April 2026 at 96,298 miles. The maintenance trend appears stable, as the car has cleared its two most recent inspections without any recorded defects. While the history shows failures in 2024 and 2025, the immediate re-tests and subsequent annual clean passes indicate that the previous owner was proactive in addressing mechanical faults once they were flagged by the tester. At 18 years old, the recorded mileage of 96,298 miles averages out to approximately 5,350 miles per year. This low usage profile is significantly below the national average, which typically suggests less wear on the drivetrain and engine components. The data shows a consistent pattern of use, with roughly 6,000 miles covered between the April 2024 tests and another 5,300 miles covered in the following year. This regularity suggests the vehicle was likely used for short-distance trips rather than high-mileage commuting. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the chassis and underbody as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from accelerated degradation of rubber components and suspension bushes due to age rather than use. Because the MOT record does not detail the specific reasons for the failures in 2024 and 2025, it is vital to check for signs of corrosion on common Vauxhall weak points such as the sills and rear wheel arches. Inspect the brake calipers for seizing or pitted discs, as long periods of standing can lead to rust on the braking system despite the low mileage.
