2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport 3.0L Diesel · YH12 JPF

A consistent record of clean MOT certificates over the last eight years defines this vehicle's documented roadworthiness, with the most recent pass on 15 January 2026 showing no recorded defects. This pattern of passing consecutive tests without failures or advisories from 2019 through to early 2026 indicates a period of stable compliance regarding the structural and safety components inspected under the DVSA regime. The absence of recorded issues with braking systems, lighting, steering, or emissions across these multiple testing cycles suggests that the components subject to mandatory inspection have met the required standards throughout this period. The vehicle's usage profile is characterised by low annual mileage, averaging approximately 5,262 miles per year over its fourteen-year lifespan. With a recorded mileage of 73,675, the accumulation is significantly lower than the typical UK average for a vehicle of this age. While this lower mileage reduces the wear on high-friction components such as brake discs, pads, and tyres, it also means the vehicle has spent a larger proportion of its life covering shorter distances. From a mechanical standpoint, this can sometimes lead to different wear patterns on drivetrain components or exhaust systems compared to high-mileage motorway vehicles, though the MOT history does not show any specific defects related to such usage. Given the lack of recorded advisories or failures in the official history, there are no specific mechanical faults such as suspension bush degradation, subframe corrosion, or brake pipe deterioration to flag for investigation. However, because the MOT is a snapshot of roadworthiness at a specific point in time and does not cover all mechanical aspects, a test drive should focus on the integrity of the Land Rover's complex systems. Listen for any irregular knocks or clunks from the suspension linkages when traversing uneven surfaces, which could indicate wear in the bushes or coil springs that has not yet reached a failure threshold. Pay close attention to the steering response and pedal feel to ensure there is no pulling to one side or vibration through the brake pedal, which might suggest uneven brake disc wear or binding calipers. Although no oil misting or leaks have been recorded, it is prudent to inspect the engine bay and underbody for any signs of fluid seepage that might have occurred between the last test in January 2026 and the current date. Monitoring the smoothness of the gear changes and the behaviour of the drivetrain under load will provide a more complete picture of the vehicle's mechanical state than the MOT history alone can offer.
