2013 Volkswagen Sharan 1.4L Petrol · YJ62 XCD

The vehicle presents a clean roadworthiness profile based on the most recent certification. In the July 2024 test at a mileage of 66,991 miles, the car passed with no recorded defects or advisories. This indicates a stable maintenance trend where the mechanical and safety-critical components met all DVSA standards at the time of the inspection. The recorded mileage of 66,991 miles over 13 years averages to approximately 5,153 miles per annum. This low usage is significantly lower than the national average for a vehicle of this age, suggesting the car has seen light use or remained stationary for extended periods. While the most recent test was conducted nearly two years prior to the current date, the lack of historical failures suggests the vehicle has not suffered from chronic mechanical stress or high-frequency operation. Despite the clean MOT record, an in-person inspection should focus on issues associated with low-mileage vehicles. Rubber-based components such as suspension bushes, drive boots, and tyre sidewalls suffer from age and cracking regardless of distance travelled. The buyer should also check for brake rust on the discs and corrosion within the calipers, as long periods of inactivity often lead to pitting and seizing. Given the age of the Sharan, a thorough check of the structural integrity and underside corrosion remains necessary to ensure no hidden degradation has developed between test intervals.
