2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Life TSI 1.5L Petrol · L23 MBX

The most recent MOT (6 Mar 2026) was a pass, but it highlighted three recurring concerns: light oil misting from both front shock absorbers, a cracked sidewall on the near‑side rear tyre, and low pressure on the front tyres. The same oil‑misting issue was recorded a year earlier (7 Mar 2025). The fact that it has not progressed to a failure suggests the problem is stable rather than rapidly worsening, but the fault remains unresolved and should be addressed before the next service. Mileage is very low for a 2022 model – about 16 400 mi after four years, roughly 4 100 mi per year. This could mean the vehicle has been lightly driven, which generally reduces wear on engines and drivetrain components. However, low annual mileage can also indicate long periods of inactivity, which may allow moisture to accumulate in suspension parts and cause tyre ageing. The mileage signal is therefore ambiguous. For a buyer, the priority checks are: Inspect the front shock absorbers for oil leaks and any loss of damping performance. A qualified mechanic should confirm whether the misting is merely surface oil or a sign of internal seal failure. Examine the near‑side rear tyre sidewall for cracking and assess the overall condition of all tyres – look for dry rot, uneven wear, and ensure they are correctly inflated.
