2005 Volkswagen Beetle 1.9L Diesel · MH05 AET

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, though the record indicates a pattern of immediate rectification following failures. The most recent test on 13 January 2023 at 135,409 miles resulted in a pass with no recorded defects. This followed a failure just three days prior at the exact same mileage, suggesting a minor issue or administrative oversight that was resolved instantly before the retest. Since that January 2023 entry, there is no MOT data for over three years, which is a significant gap that leaves the current legal roadworthiness uncertain. The mileage progression is consistent with a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 6,448 miles per year. Between January 2021 and January 2022, the car covered 6,584 miles, and it added another 7,636 miles between early 2022 and early 2023. This steady usage suggests regular driving rather than long periods of stagnation, which is generally beneficial for mechanical components. However, the lack of a test record since early 2023 means the vehicle has either sat for an extended period or operated without a valided safety inspection for the last thirty-two months. A buyer must prioritize a physical inspection of the structural integrity and suspension components, as the age of the Beetle makes it susceptible to corrosion. Given the gap in testing, checking the sills, rear wheel arches, and subframe for significant rust is essential. While the history shows no recurring advisories, the high age of the vehicle means that rubber-based suspension bushes and hoses are likely perished regardless of the relatively low mileage. Inspect the braking system for binding calipers or worn discs to ensure the lack of recent recorded data has not masked developing degradation of the braking hardware.
