2016 Nissan X-Trail 1.6L Diesel · T11 FDS

The 2016 Nissan X-Trail shows a consistent roadworthiness trend over the past five MOT cycles, with no defects or advisories recorded in any of the tests conducted between October 2022 and October 2025. The most recent MOT, passed on 16 October 2025 at 85,223 miles, confirms the vehicle remains free of major mechanical or structural failings. While the October 2022 record includes a duplicate entry (both pass and fail at 55,058 miles), this does not indicate recurring issues—rather, it suggests a clerical error rather than a mechanical pattern. The absence of advisories or repeated failures across tests implies that, at least in terms of MOT compliance, the vehicle has been maintained at a level sufficient to pass all mandatory checks without compromise. The mileage progression of approximately 8,500 miles per year aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age, without any abrupt spikes or prolonged periods of inactivity that might suggest neglect or extended storage. The intervals between tests are standard, with each MOT occurring exactly one year after the previous, indicating regular compliance with legal requirements. There are no gaps longer than a year, nor any unusually high mileage jumps between tests, which would raise concerns about accelerated wear or deferred maintenance. This pattern suggests the vehicle has been driven consistently rather than left stationary for extended periods, which could otherwise accelerate corrosion or suspension degradation. Given the clean MOT history, a prospective buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of high-wear components that are not routinely checked during an MOT. Focus on the suspension system—particularly the rear coil springs and bushes, which are prone to fatigue at this mileage—and verify for uneven tyre wear, which could indicate alignment or wheel bearing issues. The brakes, while not flagged in MOTs, should be examined for uneven pad thickness, binding calipers, or excessive corrosion on the discs, especially if the vehicle has seen heavy use. Structural integrity, particularly around the wheel arches and sills, should also be scrutinised for signs of corrosion, as this is a common failure point for vehicles of this age and mileage. The absence of advisories does not preclude gradual deterioration in these areas, so a thorough visual and functional assessment is essential.
