A spotless MOT record to date, with a clean pass on 10 April 2026 and no defects logged, indicates that the vehicle has not presented any roadworthiness issues detectable by the standard test regime. The absence of advisories or failures across the sole recorded inspection suggests that, at least up to that point, the key safety‑critical systems—brakes, lights, emissions, and structural integrity—met the DVSA criteria without incident. At just 9,572 miles on the odometer after roughly three years of age, the average annual accumulation sits near 3,200 miles, considerably below the typical UK usage pattern for a compact SUV. Such low mileage generally translates to reduced wear on wear‑items such as brake pads, clutch components, and tyre tread, while also implying that the power‑train and suspension have experienced relatively modest stress. However, the modest distance covered may also reflect periods of limited use, which can predispose components like rubber bushings, seals, and the battery to ageing effects unrelated to mileage; a visual inspection for dry or cracked hoses and a check of battery terminal condition remain prudent. When you take the car for a test drive, pay particular attention to any noises or sensations that could hint at emerging issues not captured by the MOT. Listen for clunking or knocking over bumps that could betray worn suspension bushes or deteriorating control‑arm joints, and feel for any steering pull or vibration that might indicate alignment drift or tyre wear irregularities. Apply the brakes firmly at moderate speed; a pulsating pedal, squeal, or uneven braking effort can reveal disc warping or pad glazing, while any visible fluid around the wheels should be inspected for hidden leaks. Finally, inspect the under‑body for signs of corrosion, especially around wheel arches and suspension mounting points, as prolonged inactivity can accelerate rust formation even on a low‑mileage vehicle. A pre‑purchase inspection that includes a thorough check of the coolant system, drive‑belt condition, and battery health will complement the clean MOT history and give you confidence that the car’s low‑usage profile has not concealed latent wear. Verifying that all fluid levels are topped up, that there are no subtle oil or coolant leaks, and that the tyre tread depth meets safety standards will help ensure the vehicle remains MOT‑ready and reliable for the next years of ownership.
