2006 Toyota Corolla 1.6L Petrol · AD06 LHL

The maintenance trend for this 2006 Toyota Corolla appears stable, with the vehicle consistently achieving a pass at each annual test. The most recent examination on 28 August 2024 at 154,918 miles resulted in a pass with zero defects recorded. Curiously, an identical mileage entry on the same date shows a fail with no defects listed, suggesting an aborted test or an unrecorded minor rectification before the successful retest. Regardless, the current roadworthiness status is sound, reflecting a vehicle that meets the required safety and emissions standards without any outstanding advisories. The mileage accumulation aligns closely with typical usage for a vehicle of this age. Between the August 2022 test at 144,234 miles and the July 2023 test at 149,559 miles, the Corolla covered 5,325 miles. The subsequent twelve months until August 2024 saw a further 5,359 miles added, indicating consistent, low-mileage driving of roughly 5,300 miles per year. This steady pattern implies regular use rather than prolonged periods of standing, which bodes well for the condition of consumables and prevents the drying out of seals and rubber components often seen on vehicles left idle. Despite the clean MOT record, a physical inspection remains essential given the vehicle's age and the anomaly of the unrecorded fail. A buyer should closely examine the structural integrity of the undercarriage, checking for corrosion on suspension mounting points, coil springs, and brake lines. The brake discs and pads warrant scrutiny for uneven wear, as binding calipers can sometimes evade detection if the issue is intermittent. The exhaust system should also be assessed for leaks or deterioration that might not have triggered a failure but could compromise emissions. Inspecting the suspension bushes and shock absorbers for perishing will reveal whether the low-mileage use has masked any age-related degradation.
