2014 Land Rover Defender 2.2L Diesel · AY64 HWU

The vehicle remains roadworthy as of its most recent MOT on 2025-11-04, with no defects recorded at 16,482 miles. The maintenance trend is stable, showing consistent passing results across five consecutive annual tests without any advisories or failures. This indicates diligent ownership and a lack of emerging mechanical or structural issues that would compromise safety or compliance. The mileage progression is notably low for a 12-year-old vehicle, averaging just 1,374 miles per year. The record shows steady, incremental increases between tests — from 5,330 miles in 2021 to 16,482 miles in 2025 — with no sudden jumps or long gaps suggesting storage or neglect. The absence of defects across all tests, even at higher mileages, supports the impression of gentle, consistent use rather than heavy or erratic driving patterns. Despite the clean MOT history, a buyer should inspect suspension components closely, particularly the bushes and coil springs, as low mileage can mask wear from infrequent use or prolonged static storage. Brake systems should be checked for binding calipers or uneven pad wear, especially since rear brakes were flagged in a prior test. Exhaust emissions and structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches and underbody, warrant visual inspection for corrosion, even if not recorded in the MOT. Tyre tread and wiper blade condition should also be verified, as these are common wear items that may not have been replaced despite the vehicle’s age. The record suggests the vehicle has been well maintained, but low mileage can also mean certain systems have not been exercised under load. A pre-purchase mechanical inspection should focus on fluid levels, battery health, and drivetrain components to confirm no hidden degradation has occurred during periods of inactivity.
