2012 Toyota Estima 2.4L Petrol · BW12 FMG

The vehicle remains currently roadworthy but the maintenance trend shows signs of degradation regarding mechanical wear-related components. While the car passed its December 2025 test at 66,573 miles, it introduced new defects that were not present during the 2023 inspection. The appearance of a central exhaust leak and uneven tyre wear indicates that the vehicle is beginning to require attention on its chassis and exhaust systems, despite the low annual mileage. The mileage profile is notably low for a fourteen-year-old vehicle, averaging only approximately 4,755 miles per year. Between December 2023 at 50,036 miles and December 2025 at 66,573 miles, the vehicle covered 16,537 miles over two years. This low usage suggests less strain on the engine and drivetrain, but it frequently leads to the degradation of rubber-based components like bushes and seals due to age-related perish rather than mechanical friction. A buyer must inspect the rear subframe assembly, as the nearside and offside rear pins or bushes were flagged as worn in both the 2024 and 2025 tests. Although these did not result in a failure, the recurring nature of this advisory suggests the bushings are failing progressively. The recorded scrubbing on the offside rear tyre edge in the most recent test indicates an alignment issue or a worn suspension component that needs immediate investigation to prevent premature tyre replacement. The minor exhaust gas leak identified in December 2025 requires a physical check to determine if it is a simple gasket failure or corrosion in the manifold. Given the vehicle's age and low mileage, a thorough check for structural corrosion on the subframe and exhaust hangers is essential, as low-mileage cars often hide internal surface rust that develops during periods of stationary use.
