2016 Toyota RAV4 2.0L Petrol · CK16 MZT

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 has maintained a clean MOT history with no defects recorded across all five tests, most recently passing on 29 December 2025 at 33,464 miles. This suggests the vehicle has been consistently roadworthy without major mechanical failures, though the absence of advisories means no hidden issues were flagged by the tester. The most recent test was conducted just under seven months ago, which is within the standard MOT validity window, though slightly outside the ideal six-month window for a vehicle with this mileage. No recurring faults or advisory notes appear in the record, indicating no obvious pattern of neglect or repeated mechanical concerns. The mileage progression reveals an unusually low annual average of approximately 3,346 miles, which is well below the UK average for a vehicle of this age. The gap between the 2023 and 2022 tests shows a significant drop in mileage—from 29,527 to 27,633—suggesting the vehicle may have been stationary for an extended period. Similarly, the jump from 27,633 to 37,042 miles between December 2022 and January 2025 indicates a rapid accumulation of 9,409 miles in just over two years, which could imply either intensive use or a period of deferred maintenance. The most recent test at 33,464 miles suggests the vehicle has since returned to lower usage, though the exact cause remains unclear from the record alone. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of suspension components, particularly the coil springs, bushes, and shock absorbers, as these are common wear items that may not have been formally tested. The brakes, including calipers, pads, and discs, should be checked for uneven wear or binding, especially if the vehicle was stationary for an extended period, as this can lead to corrosion or stiffness. Tyre condition, including tread depth and lateral wear, should be thoroughly examined, as the absence of MOT defects does not guarantee they have been consistently maintained. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches and sills, should also be assessed for corrosion, as low mileage does not preclude rust development in areas exposed to road salt or moisture.
