2005 Vauxhall Astravan 1.7L Diesel · DN55 AHL

The vehicle currently maintains a roadworthy status, having achieved a clean pass in its most recent January 2026 test at 107,993 miles. The maintenance trend appears stable, despite a single failure recorded in December 2024. The fact that the vehicle passed the January 2025 test without any advisories following the 2024 failure indicates that the previous owner was proactive in addressing defects once they were identified by the tester. The mileage profile is notably low for a 21-year-old van, averaging approximately 5,143 miles per year. The data shows consistent intervals of use, such as the 3,300 miles covered between January 2024 and December 2024, and another 3,301 miles between January 2025 and January 2026. While low mileage generally reduces mechanical wear on the drivetrain and engine, the long periods between tests can sometimes lead to the degradation of rubber-based components or fluid-related dry-rot. Given the age of the Vauxhall Astra, a physical inspection must focus on the structural integrity of the chassis. Astra vans of this era are prone to corrosion in the sills, rear floor pans, and suspension mounting points. The buyer should check for bubbling paint or surface rust that might indicate deep-seated structural decay. Additionally, the suspension bushes and coil springs should be examined for cracking, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from age-related perishation rather than mechanical wear.
