2013 Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0L Diesel · F5 JLG

The Volkswagen Scirocco presents a clean and stable MOT history over the past three years, with the most recent test on 1 October 2025 at 108,307 miles showing no defects—an outcome mirrored in the three preceding annual tests (2023–2024). The absence of advisories or failures during this period suggests the vehicle has been maintained to a high standard, with no recurring issues to indicate neglect or systemic mechanical degradation. The dual entry for 23 September 2024 —one pass, one fail—is an anomaly likely due to administrative error rather than technical concern, given the identical mileage and no recorded defects. This consistency implies the car has either been serviced meticulously or, if privately owned, benefitted from a well-informed keeper attuned to pre-MOT checks. Mileage accumulation aligns closely with typical usage for a vehicle of this age, averaging 8,331 miles per year over its 13-year lifespan. The recorded intervals between tests (approximately 9,000–10,000 miles annually ) reflect steady, moderate driving rather than aggressive use or prolonged inactivity. There are no red flags in the spacing—no sudden jumps in mileage that might suggest odometer tampering, nor prolonged gaps that could imply storage-related deterioration. The most recent test, just nine months ago , confirms the car remains within its annual MOT cycle, reducing the risk of hidden wear from deferred servicing. For a prospective buyer, the absence of historical defects simplifies due diligence, though a few key areas still warrant close inspection. Given the car’s age and mileage, suspension components —such as coil springs, anti-roll bars, and bushings—should be checked for wear or corrosion, particularly if the vehicle has been driven on rough roads. Brake system integrity remains critical; while no binding or leaking issues were flagged, the rear brakes (a common weak point in this model) should be tested for uneven wear or excessive play. Exhaust emissions and structural corrosion —especially around wheel arches, sills, and underbody—should be scrutinised, as these are often overlooked in MOTs but can escalate into costly repairs. Finally, fluid levels (brake, coolant, power steering) and tyre condition (tread depth, sidewall cracks) should be verified, even if the MOT passed, as these are consumable items prone to neglect between tests.
