The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on 25 January 2022 at 18,378 miles resulted in a clean pass with no defects recorded. This suggests the bike was in sound condition at the time, though the test is now over four years out of date—well beyond the standard 12-month MOT validity period. Without subsequent tests to confirm ongoing maintenance, there is no evidence of recurring issues or a pattern of neglect. However, the absence of any advisories or defects in the single recorded test does not preclude hidden wear, particularly given the low mileage and extended period since the last inspection. The recorded mileage of 18,378 miles over approximately 12 years—roughly 1,532 miles annually—is unusually low for a vehicle of this age. Such low usage may indicate prolonged storage, which can accelerate deterioration in components like rubber seals, battery health, and fuel system integrity. The lack of intermediate MOT tests or service records means there is no data to confirm whether critical items such as suspension bushes, throttle body carbon buildup, or chain wear were addressed during this period. Buyers should treat this as a potential red flag for deferred maintenance rather than a sign of consistent care. Given the sparse MOT history, priority should be given to inspecting high-wear items that often go unchecked in lightly used but long-stored motorcycles. The suspension—particularly coil springs, fork seals, and rear shock linkages—should be examined for dryness or corrosion, as prolonged inactivity can cause rubber components to crack. The braking system warrants close scrutiny: rear brake binding was not flagged in 2022, but caliper pistons and pads may have degraded without regular use. The chain and sprocket should be checked for rust or excessive stretch, as low-mileage bikes often suffer from corrosion rather than wear. Finally, the fuel system—including the carburettor or fuel injection components—needs inspection for clogging or water contamination, which can occur even with minimal riding. A thorough pre-purchase inspection is essential to verify these areas.
