Most recent MOT (24 Sept 2025 – PASS) The car passed the test at 88,937 mi, but two advisory items were recorded: the spare tyre is defective and there is a non‑excessive oil leak. An advisory means the issue is not a failure now, but it must be dealt with before the next test. Recurring mechanical pattern Just two weeks earlier (10 Sept 2025) the vehicle failed spectacularly, mainly for brake‑related defects: Front and rear service brakes showed more than 50 % imbalance on an axle. One front brake had no recorded effort, and one rear brake also had no effort. Rear brake pads were below the minimum 1.5 mm thickness. Service‑brake efficiency was under 50 % of the required value and the parking brake was below specification. The rear‑near‑side brake disc was worn/pitted. Brake pedal travel was insufficient. These are serious safety concerns that normally require replacement of pads, discs and a thorough re‑balancing of the braking system, plus a check of the hydraulic circuitry and parking‑brake mechanism. In addition to the brakes, the same test flagged: Exhaust emissions (hydrocarbon and CO) exceeding limits.
