2005 Honda Stepwagon 2.0L Petrol · LW05 VJF

The 2005 Honda Stepwagon presents a solid roadworthiness status as of its most recent MOT on 3 February 2026 at 89,484 miles, where it passed with zero defects. The maintenance trend is stable and improving. The only blemish in the entire recorded history was a single minor failure on 26 January 2024 at 83,267 miles for a missing rear fog lamp, which was rectified on the same day. No recurring mechanical or structural faults appear anywhere in the record, indicating consistent upkeep across multiple test cycles. The mileage pattern tells a clear story of very light use for a vehicle of this age. Annual accumulation sits at roughly 4,261 miles, well below the UK average. Between the February 2023 test at 78,796 miles and the January 2024 test at 83,267 miles, the vehicle covered 4,471 miles in just under twelve months. The gap between January 2024 and February 2026 shows a further 6,217 miles added over approximately two years, confirming the low and steady usage pattern. There are no suspicious mileage gaps or sudden spikes that would suggest odometer tampering or prolonged periods of disuse. The record is clean and consistent. Despite the clean MOT history, a buyer should still carry out a thorough in-person inspection focused on areas the MOT does not fully assess. The underbody and sills need close examination for corrosion, as the Stepwagon's age makes structural rust a genuine concern even when it has not yet triggered a failure. Suspension components including bushes, drop links, and coil springs should be checked for deterioration, since low-mileage vehicles can suffer from perished rubber and seized parts caused by long stationary periods rather than wear. The braking system deserves attention too. Rear calipers and discs on these vehicles are prone to sticking and uneven corrosion, particularly if the car has spent time parked. Tyre condition and date codes should be verified, as older tyres with good tread can still be dangerous if they are beyond their recommended service life. The exhaust system and catalytic converter should be inspected for corrosion and emissions performance, especially given the vehicle's age. Interior functionality is also worth testing, as the Stepwagon's sliding door mechanisms, seat rails, and electrical systems can develop faults that fall outside MOT scope. Overall, the documented record is reassuring, but the vehicle's age means physical inspection remains essential before purchase.
