2005 Land Rover Range Rover 2.9L Diesel · NO02 ALK

The vehicle demonstrates a stable maintenance trend, with no defects recorded in its most recent 2022 MOT at 175,376 miles. All prior tests from 2015 to 2019 also passed without issues, indicating consistent adherence to roadworthiness standards. However, the absence of any MOT records post-2022 raises concerns, as the car has not been assessed for over three years. This gap suggests potential undetected deterioration in components requiring regular inspection, such as suspension systems, brake assemblies, or corrosion-prone structural elements. The mileage progression aligns with typical usage for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 8,351 miles annually. The records show steady accumulation, with no abrupt spikes or prolonged inactivity periods that might indicate neglect. The longest interval between tests was from 2019 to 2022, a three-year gap that exceeds standard MOT intervals. While this does not confirm faults, it underscores the importance of verifying current condition through independent inspection, as mechanical wear can accelerate without regular checks. A buyer should prioritise checking suspension components, particularly coil springs and bushes, which degrade over time. The absence of brake-related defects in MOTs does not eliminate the need for a thorough brake system inspection, including caliper binding and disc warping. Structural corrosion, especially in the underbody or chassis, warrants scrutiny given the vehicle’s age. Additionally, the exhaust system and emission controls should be assessed, as catalytic converter efficiency may have declined without recent testing. These areas require physical examination to confirm the vehicle’s ongoing roadworthiness.
