2009 Smart Fortwo Cabriolet 0.8L Diesel · NW02 AAW

The vehicle currently holds a clean roadworthiness status, having passed its most recent MOT in April 2026 at 43,337 miles with no defects recorded. The maintenance trend appears stable, as the car has moved from minor electrical failures in previous years to a clean sheet. The lack of advisories in the latest test suggests that the mechanical issues identified years ago have been addressed and the vehicle is operating within acceptable tolerances. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a 17-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 2,550 miles per year. While this low usage often implies less wear on the engine and drivetrain, a significant data gap exists between the December 2015 and October 2020 tests, during which only 44 miles were recorded. This pattern suggests the car likely sat stationary for long periods, which can lead to the degradation of rubber components, perished seals, and surface corrosion on metalworkwork despite the low total distance travelled. A buyer should conduct a physical inspection of the braking system, as the October 2020 test flagged pitted and scored discs on both the nearside and offside front. Although these were replaced prior to the 2026 pass, the low mileage increases the risk of brake calipers seizing or fluid contamination due to disuse. Also inspect the suspension bushes and tyres for cracking or dry rot, as low-mileage vehicles are more prone to age-related material fatigue than mileage-related wear.
