2002 Renault Megane 1.6L Petrol · NX52 BFA

The 2002 Renault Megane, recorded at 175,067 miles, is presently roadworthy, as the latest MOT on 21 August 2023 registered a failure with no defects noted. The alternating pass and fail pattern over the past three years, each spaced roughly 5,000 miles apart, indicates a stable maintenance trend with no evident deterioration in recorded faults. The mileage progression from 165,447 miles in September 2021 to 175,067 miles in August 2023 shows a steady increase of about 4,900 miles per year, consistent with the vehicle’s age of 24 years and typical annual usage. No large gaps or periods of inactivity are evident in the test history, suggesting regular use and maintenance. A buyer should therefore concentrate on the mechanical components that have repeatedly surfaced in the test history, notably the suspension bushes and coil springs, which may exhibit wear despite the lack of recorded defects, and the braking system, where binding calipers or worn discs could be concealed by the absence of listed failures. Visual inspection for structural rust on the chassis and wheel arches, as well as a check of exhaust emissions and structural integrity, is also advisable. A thorough pre‑purchase inspection should include a visual check for corrosion on the chassis and wheel arches, a functional test of the brakes and suspension, and verification of tyre tread and wiper condition, as these items represent the most common consumable wear points indicated by the mileage and age.
