2012 SYM Symply 2 125 0.1L Petrol · NX62 AXN

This SYM Symply 125 presents a clean roadworthiness status with a stable maintenance trend, evidenced by a straightforward pass in the most recent November 2022 test at 25,108 miles with zero recorded defects. The absence of advisories during both the 2021 and 2022 examinations indicates that previous keepers maintained the scooter to a standard that satisfied DVSA examiners at the time of testing. However, the testing record reveals a significant compliance gap, as the scooter has lacked a valid MOT certificate since late November 2022. Operating on public roads currently requires an immediate test, and any evaluation must account for a dormancy period stretching approaching four years relative to the present date. Low usage characterizes the mileage history, accumulating a modest total of 25,108 miles across roughly fourteen years of age, which averages out to less than 1,800 miles annually. A jump of nearly 10,000 miles occurred between the November 2021 test at 15,926 miles and the November 2022 test at 25,108 miles, showing a brief period of intensive use prior to the vehicle being laid up. While low mileage typically preserves drivetrain components, extended periods of storage often induce specific mechanical vulnerabilities that standard MOT tests do not fully capture. Extended inactivity demands a thorough physical inspection of the fuel system, as modern unleaded petrol degrades inside carburettors and fuel lines, leading to varnish buildup and blocked jets. The braking system requires careful scrutiny, since hydraulic fluid absorbs moisture over time and callipers or master cylinders can seize during prolonged storage. Rubber components such as fork seals, drive belts, and tyre sidewalls must be checked for perishing or cracking caused by age rather than wear. Buyers should verify whether the engine starts cleanly from cold and inspect the frame and exhaust system for surface corrosion resulting from unridden storage in damp conditions.
