2016 Triumph Thruxton 1.2L Petrol · OW66 RGO

A history of minimal road use defines this motorcycle, with a clean MOT record that includes a pass on 23 August 2023 without any defects or advisories. This lack of recorded faults suggests a stable mechanical state at the time of testing, though the sparsity of the MOT history provides a limited longitudinal view of the vehicle's roadworthiness. The recorded mileage of 3,810 miles is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 381 miles per year. Such a low rate of accumulation indicates the motorcycle has spent significant periods in stationary storage rather than in regular service. Mechanically, this usage profile shifts the primary concern from wear-and-tear of drivetrain components to the potential degradation of seals, gaskets, and fluids resulting from prolonged inactivity. Given the extended periods of inactivity implied by the mileage and MOT gaps, a physical inspection should prioritise the condition of the rubber components and fluid integrity. Check for any signs of perishing or cracking in the tyre sidewalls and ensure the brake fluid is clear and free of contamination. Inspect the fork seals for leaks or weeping that may have occurred during long periods of standing. During a test drive, pay close attention to the smoothness of the engine delivery and the operation of the braking system. Listen for any unusual noises from the drivetrain or suspension that may indicate seized components or lack of lubrication. Verify that the throttle response is crisp and that the gear changes are fluid, as prolonged inactivity can sometimes lead to sticking linkages or internal deposits.
