1997 Honda CBR600F 0.6L Petrol · P994 GGM

The vehicle’s most recent MOT, conducted on 2021-09-18 at 36,798 miles, recorded a pass with no defects. Subsequent tests from 2015 to 2009 also showed no issues, indicating a stable maintenance trend over the past 12 years. However, the absence of an MOT since 2021—now over five years past—raises concerns about its current roadworthiness. While no faults were flagged in historical records, the prolonged gap in testing suggests potential undetected deterioration in components reliant on regular use, such as suspension bushes, brake calipers, or exhaust emissions systems. The vehicle’s mileage of 36,798 miles over 29 years equates to an average of 1,269 miles annually, significantly below typical usage for its age. This low mileage, coupled with MOT records showing minimal variation between 2009 (35,513 miles) and 2021 (36,798 miles), implies extended periods of inactivity. Such conditions can accelerate corrosion in underbody components, degrade rubber seals, and cause stiffness in moving parts like steering linkages. The 2011 test, which recorded a failure but no defects, may reflect procedural errors or unrecorded issues, though this remains unclear. A buyer should prioritize inspecting the chassis for rust, particularly around wheel arches and sills, given the vehicle’s age and low mileage. Suspension components, including coil springs and shock absorbers, may require testing for stiffness or uneven wear. Brake systems should be checked for binding calipers or warped discs, as infrequent use can lead to corrosion. The exhaust system’s integrity is also critical, as stagnant fuel and condensation may have caused internal damage. While the MOT history shows no overt faults, the lack of recent testing necessitates a thorough pre-purchase inspection to confirm mechanical soundness.
