2004 Honda Jazz 1.3L Petrol · PJ54 CWT

The 2004 Honda Jazz presents a stable and well-maintained roadworthiness profile. The most recent MOT, conducted on 30 September 2024 at 126,840 miles, passed with zero defects recorded. This clean sheet is not an isolated event but the culmination of a consistent five-year run of flawless tests, indicating a resolving or, more accurately, a sustained trend of diligent preventative maintenance rather than a reactive fix of a chronic issue. The absence of any advisories or failures across the last five consecutive inspections is a strong positive signal for a vehicle of this age. The mileage pattern tells a story of exceptionally light use followed by a recent increase in activity. Between the November 2020 test at 85,408 miles and the November 2021 test at 85,406 miles, the car covered a negligible two miles, suggesting it stood idle for a full year. However, the subsequent period shows a significant shift. The car accumulated 4,508 miles in the twelve months leading to the October 2022 test, then 18,065 miles in the following year to October 2023, and finally 18,621 miles in the final period to September 2024. This sharp rise in annual mileage, from near-zero to a more typical 18,000-mile rate, indicates the car has transitioned from long-term storage back into regular daily service. This recent high usage is a critical factor for a buyer to consider, as it accelerates wear on components that may have been dormant for years. Despite the recent mileage surge, the consecutive clean MOTs suggest the vehicle has coped well with the increased workload. The tester flagged no emerging issues with the braking system, suspension components, or structural integrity, which are common stress points for a car returning to heavy use. The lack of any advisories on suspension bushes, coil springs, or exhaust emissions is particularly reassuring. A buyer should still conduct a thorough in-person inspection, focusing on the condition of the tyres and brake discs to confirm they have been replaced to match the recent high-mileage usage. An underbody check for corrosion is also prudent, as a vehicle that stood for long periods may have developed surface rust on exposed components, even if it has not yet reached a failure threshold.
