2012 Morgan 3 Wheeler 2.0L Petrol · PS03 MOG

The most recent MOT inspection on 09 July 2026 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, indicating the vehicle was in a roadworthy condition at the time of testing. Looking at the broader maintenance history, the trend is highly stable, with the majority of annual tests showing no issues. The single advisory recorded in July 2025 regarding slight play in the offside front wheel bearing appears to have been resolved or monitored, as no subsequent defect was noted in the latest test, suggesting a consistent level of care and effective oversight of minor mechanical wear. The recorded mileage of 12,240 miles is exceptionally low for a 2012 vehicle, representing an average annual usage of approximately 874 miles. While this indicates minimal mechanical wear on the engine, drivetrain, and suspension components, such low usage often implies the vehicle has been stored for long periods. For a specialist vehicle like a Morgan 3 Wheeler, this pattern of infrequent use necessitates a different inspection approach, as the primary risks shift from mechanical fatigue caused by high mileage to the effects of stagnation and time-based degradation of consumables. During a physical inspection, you must pay close attention to components affected by age rather than distance. Examine the tyres thoroughly for signs of perishing, such as sidewall cracking or hardening, as rubber compounds degrade over time even if the tread remains deep. Check the brake discs for excessive surface corrosion and ensure the calipers are not binding, which is common when vehicles sit idle. It is also vital to confirm that service intervals have been followed based on the calendar; engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid should be replaced regularly to prevent chemical breakdown and moisture contamination, regardless of the low odometer reading. On the test drive, pay particular attention to the front end to ensure the previously advised offside wheel bearing is truly sound. Listen for any low-frequency humming or grinding noises that change pitch with speed, and feel for any subtle vibrations through the steering wheel. Additionally, check the electrical systems and the 12V battery, as long periods of inactivity can lead to battery health issues or deep discharge. Finally, verify the service book for stamps that confirm time-based maintenance, ensuring that the vehicle has not merely been sitting without the necessary preventative care required for a low-use enthusiast vehicle.
