2004 Ford Mondeo 1.8L Petrol · RJ04 XZG

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile based on the latest available MOT data. The most recent test conducted on 21 March 2024 at 95,215 miles resulted in a pass with no defects recorded, indicating the car currently meets minimum safety and environmental standards. While a failure was noted in June 2022, the immediate rectification and subsequent pass just eleven days later suggest the owner is proactive in addressing identified mechanical or safety faults. The mileage pattern is notably low for a 22-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,300 miles per year. There is a significant gap of 14,303 miles between the June 2021 test and the June 2022 test, followed by another 8,381 miles covered between 2022 and 2024. This low annual usage reduces general wear and tear on the drivetrain and engine components, though long periods of standing can sometimes lead to the degradation of rubber components, seals, and tyres, which may dry out despite low mileage. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the structural integrity of the chassis and sills, as vehicles of this era are prone to corrosion that may not always manifest until it becomes significant. Given the low mileage, inspect the suspension bushes and coil springs for cracking or perish, as age-related decay affects these parts regardless of distance driven. Check the brake system for binding calipers or rusted discs, as the 2022 failure indicates a past area that required attention and should be fully resolved and maintained.
