Verify that all stop lamps illuminate crisply and confirm the handbrake holds the car firmly on an incline, since both systems have previously failed outright. The constant velocity boot should be examined for fresh grease loss or splitting, as a torn boot leads rapidly to joint failure and replacement of the complete shaft. Beyond the recorded defect history, age-appropriate checks should include a close visual inspection of all tyres for sidewall perishing and cracking, which is common on low-mileage cars of this vintage, as well as verification of tyre production date codes. The 12V battery should be load tested, as batteries older than five years are prone to sudden failure regardless of vehicle use. Brake fluid, coolant, and engine oil should all be assessed for condition and service history, as time-based fluid degradation is a known concern where annual mileage is low.
