2021 Toyota Hilux 2.4L Diesel · SY20 AHZ

The Toyota Hilux in question demonstrates a consistently stable roadworthiness profile, with all three MOT tests—conducted on 2024-01-17, 2024-12-06, and most recently on 2025-11-05—resulting in clean passes at 19,662, 28,340, and 36,225 miles respectively. The absence of defects across these tests suggests the vehicle has not experienced recurrent mechanical failures or advisory issues that would warrant concern. However, the most recent test occurred just six months ago, which is acceptable but not ideal for a vehicle approaching the 2027 MOT cycle. Buyers should note that while the record indicates no red or amber flags, the lack of advisories also means no documented maintenance interventions—such as suspension servicing or brake pad replacements—have been formally recorded. The mileage progression of 7,245 miles annually over five years aligns with typical usage patterns for a commercial or mixed-use vehicle of this age. There are no abrupt jumps or prolonged periods of inactivity that might suggest neglect or extended storage. The gap between the 2024-12-06 and 2025-11-05 tests reflects a 10-month interval, which is standard for MOT cycles and does not imply any irregularities. That said, the steady accumulation of mileage means that wear items like tyres, brake linings, and suspension components will have reached their expected service limits by now, even if not yet failing. Given the clean MOT history, an in-person inspection should prioritise brake condition , particularly the rear calipers and discs, as binding or uneven wear is often the first sign of neglect. The suspension—including coil springs, bushes, and dampers—should be checked for excessive play, corrosion, or uneven wear, especially around the wheel arches and sills, where commercial vehicles are prone to structural fatigue. Tyre tread depth and lateral wear patterns must be verified, as the lack of advisories does not confirm recent replacements. Finally, inspect the underbody for corrosion, particularly around the sills, subframe, and exhaust system, as these areas are critical for structural integrity and often go unnoticed without a thorough examination. The absence of recorded faults does not preclude hidden issues, so a professional pre-purchase inspection is strongly advised.
