2004 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L Petrol · WJ04 YJF

This Jeep Wrangler demonstrates a strong record of roadworthiness, characterized by a trend of clean certificates in recent years, including a defect-free pass on 14 July 2025. While earlier tests highlighted specific wear in the steering and suspension linkages, the absence of these advisories in the two most recent inspections suggests that these components have either been replaced or have stabilized. The recorded mileage of 43,878 miles is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this vintage, averaging approximately 1,994 miles per year. Such a usage profile indicates the vehicle has spent significant periods stationary or has been used sparingly, which typically results in minimal wear on the engine and drivetrain. However, low-mileage vehicles of this age often face challenges with rubber components and seals that can degrade due to lack of regular exercise. Attention should be paid to the front-end geometry and steering assembly, given the previous recording of a deformed nearside front steering arm. During a test drive, the buyer should feel for any vagueness in the steering response or a tendency for the vehicle to wander under light acceleration. Any unusual knocks or clicks when turning the steering wheel from lock to lock could indicate that the previously noted swivel pin and bush wear persists or has returned. The rear suspension also warrants a physical inspection, specifically the offside rear shock absorber bushes which were previously flagged as worn. Listen for thumping sounds when driving over speed bumps or uneven terrain, as perished bushes often manifest as audible knocks during vertical suspension travel. A thorough check of the chassis and axle housings for corrosion is also advised, as these areas are prone to oxidation in older 4x4s, regardless of the low mileage.
