2002 Volkswagen Transporter 2.5L Diesel · WR02 VTZ

A consistent record of roadworthiness defines this vehicle, punctuated by minor lighting and tyre failures that were promptly rectified. The most recent test on 10 August 2026 resulted in a pass with no defects recorded, suggesting a stable mechanical state following a period of intermittent advisories regarding suspension and bodywork. With 226,741 miles recorded over 24 years, the vehicle has averaged approximately 9,448 miles per annum, which is typical for a commercial vehicle of this era. However, a notable four-year gap exists in the testing history between April 2022 and August 2026. Such a prolonged absence from official testing often coincides with periods of inactivity, which can lead to the degradation of rubber components and the potential for seized calipers or perished seals. Attention should be paid to the front suspension, as both nearside and offside suspension arm pins and bushes were flagged as worn in 2022. During a test drive, listen for knocking or clunking sounds when traversing uneven surfaces or during low-speed manoeuvres, and feel for any vagueness or pull in the steering. The recorded low engine oil level from 2022 also necessitates a thorough check of the current oil level and a visual inspection for leaks around the engine block and sump. The sliding door rail was previously noted as rusted, so the operation of the side door should be checked for smoothness and structural integrity. Given the high overall mileage, a comprehensive inspection of the brake discs and pads for uneven wear is advisable, alongside a check for any play in the drivetrain components. Ensure the headlamps are correctly aimed and fully operational, as these have been recurring failure points in the vehicle's history.
