2005 Honda Civic 1.6L Petrol · WV05 XPS

The vehicle currently holds a clean bill of health, with the most recent MOT conducted on 23 August 2024 at 160,923 miles resulting in a pass with no recorded defects. This represents a highly stable maintenance trend, as the car has achieved three consecutive clean passes since August 2022. The absence of advisories over this three-year period indicates that the previous owner has addressed wear and tear items proactively, maintaining the vehicle to a consistent standard despite its age. The recorded mileage of 160,923 over twenty-one years averages approximately 7,663 miles per annum, which is entirely typical for a vehicle of this vintage. The test intervals are remarkably consistent, with annual checks occurring within the same month each year. The data shows a modest increase of 3,482 miles between the August 2022 test and the August 2024 test, suggesting the car has seen light, steady usage rather than long periods of inactivity or heavy commercial duty. Given the age of this Honda Civic, prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on areas not fully captured by the MOT test. While the recent history is clean, the high mileage necessitates a thorough check of the suspension bushes, ball joints, and coil springs for signs of fatigue or perished rubber components. Inspect the underside carefully for structural corrosion, particularly around the sills and rear subframe mounting points, as these are common failure areas for this chassis. Verify the condition of the clutch and gearbox, as these major drivetrain components are often reaching the end of their service life at this mileage.
