2007 Nissan X-Trail 2.2L Diesel · WV07 ABN

The 2007 Nissan X-Trail’s most recent MOT test on 2024-09-18—just 18 months ago—shows an unusual anomaly: the vehicle was tested twice on the same day, both passing without any recorded defects or advisories. While this suggests the tester did not identify any critical failures, the lack of any warnings or recurring issues is notable, especially given the vehicle’s age and mileage. The absence of advisories or defects in the last test implies no obvious mechanical or structural concerns were detected at 109,968 miles. However, the dual testing on the same date raises questions about potential administrative oversight rather than genuine roadworthiness. The recorded mileage of 109,968 miles over approximately 19 years—roughly 5,788 miles annually—is unusually low for a vehicle of this age, suggesting either very light usage or extended periods of inactivity. This pattern could indicate the car has spent significant time stored, which may accelerate certain forms of wear, such as brake corrosion or suspension stiffness from prolonged immobility. Alternatively, it may reflect careful ownership with minimal high-speed or heavy-load driving. Without additional service records, it is impossible to confirm whether maintenance intervals were consistently followed, but the mileage itself does not suggest aggressive use. Given the sparse MOT history and the lack of defects, a prospective buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of high-wear components that are not routinely tested under MOT standards. Focus on the suspension system—particularly the condition of coil springs, bushes, and shock absorbers—for signs of dry rot or excessive play, as these are often overlooked in basic MOT checks. The brakes, while not flagged in the test, should be scrutinised for uneven wear, binding calipers, or corrosion on the brake discs and pads, especially if the vehicle has been stationary for prolonged periods. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches, sills, and the subframe, should also be examined for corrosion, as this is a common failure point in older Nissan models. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions should be checked for leaks or excessive rust, as these are frequently overlooked but critical for both performance and legal compliance.
