2011 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Petrol · YB60 VDZ

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status despite a pattern of immediate failures followed by successful passes. The most recent test on 27 August 2024 at 102,810 miles resulted in no defects, following a failure recorded just five days prior at 102,803 miles. This suggests the owner is proactive in rectifying identified issues immediately to maintain legal road use. Since the pass in August 2022, the car has maintained a clean record without recurring advisories, indicating that the mechanical and structural integrity has remained consistent under current ownership. At 102,810 miles, the Astra has averaged approximately 6,854 miles per year, which aligns with typical UK usage patterns for a fifteen-year-old vehicle. The mileage accumulation is remarkably steady, with roughly 6,500 miles driven between August 2022 and August 2023, and another 4,800 miles between August 2023 and August 2024. This low rate of travel suggests the drivetrain has not been subjected to high-mileage stress, though the age of the vehicle increases the risk of rubber-based components degrading, such as suspension bushes and tyre sidewalls, regardless of distance covered. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the specific components that caused the failures in 2023 and 2024, as the provided record does not detail the exact faults. Given the age of the Astra, a thorough check for corrosion on the rear sills and subframe is essential, as these are common failure points. Despite the clean history, checking the brake calipers for binding or seized pistons is also necessary to ensure that the lower annual use has not led to internal corrosion within the braking system.
