2015 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · YK15 ACA

The vehicle’s most recent MOT history demonstrates a stable roadworthiness trend, though the October 2025 test cycle reveals a rare anomaly. The tester recorded a failure on the 30th of October 2025—despite no defects being logged—before it passed the following day at the same mileage. This suggests either a minor administrative oversight or a last-minute rectification of an unrecorded issue, as no defects were noted in either test. All prior annual tests from 2022 to 2024 passed without fail, indicating consistent compliance with MOT standards over the past four years. The lack of advisories or recurring faults in the record implies no systematic neglect of critical components, but the 2025 failure warrants scrutiny of what may have been overlooked. The mileage progression of 115,555 miles at the time of writing aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age, averaging around 10,500 miles annually. There are no significant gaps or abrupt jumps in mileage between tests, though the 2022 to 2023 interval shows a slight increase from 83,836 to 96,114 miles—a 12,278-mile accumulation over roughly 11 months. This suggests moderate, steady use without prolonged periods of inactivity, which could mitigate some wear concerns. However, the consistent annual mileage accumulation implies predictable wear on high-stress components such as suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers. Given the absence of recorded defects or advisories in the MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of components that often fail silently or degrade predictably with this mileage. Focus on the suspension system—particularly the rear coil springs and bushes—for signs of fatigue or corrosion, as these are common failure points in Land Rover models of this era. The braking system, including rear binding calipers and warped discs, should be checked for uneven wear or drag, even though no brake-related faults were logged. Additionally, examine the subframe and sills for structural corrosion, especially in areas prone to moisture retention, as rust can compromise the vehicle’s integrity over time. The 2025 failure, though unexplained, hints at the possibility of an unaddressed minor issue, so verifying recent service records for brake fluid changes, tyre rotations, and differential maintenance would be prudent.
