2006 Volkswagen Caddy 2.0L Diesel · YR06 XCA

The Volkswagen Caddy’s most recent MOT test on 26 February 2026 confirms it remains roadworthy, with no defects recorded at 161,438 miles. This represents a stable maintenance trend over the past three annual tests, all passing without fail. The absence of advisories or recurring issues suggests the vehicle has been kept in a consistent state of mechanical order, though the lack of defects does not preclude underlying wear—particularly in components subject to gradual deterioration such as suspension bushes, coil springs, or drivetrain joints. The clean pass in February 2026, just five months prior to today’s date, indicates the vehicle has been driven regularly since then, with no extended periods off-road or in storage that could have accelerated corrosion or component fatigue. The mileage progression reveals an irregular pattern, with a notable spike between the February 2023 and February 2022 tests. At 207,586 miles in 2023, the vehicle had accumulated 60,324 miles in just under a year—an unusually high rate for a vehicle of this age, suggesting either intensive use or a reset in the odometer. Subsequent tests show a return to more typical mileage increments, with 153,055 miles in 2024 and 158,030 miles in 2025, averaging closer to 5,000 miles annually. The gap between the 2022 and 2023 tests—where the odometer jumped by 60,324 miles—demands scrutiny, as it may indicate either a genuine high-mileage period or potential odometer manipulation. Buyers should verify the odometer’s accuracy and cross-reference this with service records if available. Given the lack of recorded defects, the primary focus for an in-person inspection should centre on high-wear components that are not routinely tested under MOT but are critical to the Caddy’s structural and functional integrity. The suspension system—particularly the rear coil springs and bushes—should be examined for uneven sagging or excessive play, as these are common failure points in vehicles of this age and mileage. Brake discs and calipers, while not flagged in past tests, warrant inspection for lateral wear, binding, or corrosion, especially if the vehicle has been driven through wet or salted conditions. Structural corrosion, particularly around the wheel arches, sills, and subframe, is another concern; rust penetration in these areas can compromise the vehicle’s rigidity and handling stability. Finally, the exhaust system should be checked for leaks or excessive sagging, as these can indicate failing mounts or compromised catalytic converter integrity. The absence of advisories in recent MOTs does not guarantee these components are intact, so a thorough visual and functional assessment is essential.
