2015 Holden Colorado 2.8L Diesel · AY64 HWJ

The vehicle currently holds a valid MOT status following its most recent test on 2026-03-17, where it passed with a single minor advisory regarding the nearside registration plate lamp. However, the preceding test on the same day was a failure, citing excessive wear in the nearside front suspension arm bushings and the same lamp issue — indicating a maintenance trend that is not improving, but rather cyclical, with structural suspension components repeatedly flagged despite passing earlier in the year. The failure record suggests the wear is persistent and likely progressing, not incidental. Mileage has climbed steadily from 127,186 miles in March 2024 to 143,395 miles by March 2026 — an increase of 16,209 miles over 22 months, or roughly 9,000 miles per year. This rate is consistent with the vehicle’s overall 11-year lifespan averaging 13,036 miles annually, suggesting no significant gaps in usage or long-term storage. The absence of any MOT records between March 2024 and February 2025, followed by a single test in March 2025, implies a pattern of infrequent or delayed servicing, which may have contributed to the suspension component failures. The recurring suspension faults — specifically the worn bushings and fractured coil spring in 2024 — point to a need for full front suspension inspection, including control arms, ball joints, and spring mounts. The binding or excessive wear in the nearside front suspension suggests potential alignment issues or structural fatigue that could affect handling and safety. Brake components should also be scrutinized, as the nearside rear brake caliper was flagged for binding in the 2026 failure, which may indicate worn pads or seized caliper pistons. Rust and corrosion, particularly around wheel arches and suspension mounting points, should be checked, as high mileage and age increase the risk of structural degradation. A buyer should insist on a full mechanical inspection by a qualified technician, focusing on the front suspension assembly, brake system, and underbody corrosion. The history indicates that the vehicle has not been maintained to a consistent standard, and while it passed its most recent test, the underlying mechanical issues remain unresolved. The high mileage combined with repeated suspension failures suggests that major component replacement may be imminent, and the cost of rectifying these issues should be factored into any purchase decision.
