2014 Ford Transit 350 Heavy oil · CUI 666

The vehicle presents a concerning roadworthiness status following a failed MOT test on May 31, 2024. While the previous three tests returned clean passes with no defects, the most recent failure at 119,777 miles without recorded defects suggests a significant mechanical or emissions-related failure that prevented an immediate pass. Given that more than two years have passed since that recorded failure, the vehicle is currently operating without a valid MOT certificate, indicating a breakdown in the established maintenance and compliance schedule. The mileage pattern remains consistent with typical commercial usage for a vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 10,000 miles per year. The record shows a notable gap between the April 2020 test and October 2021 test, where the vehicle covered 109,143 miles in eighteen months. Since the December 2022 test at 115,433 miles, the vehicle has added roughly 4,300 miles. This steady accumulation suggests standard wear patterns on the drivetrain and suspension, though the lack of advisory notes leading up to the final failure suggests the owner relied solely on the previous clean history. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the chassis and underside components to determine the cause of the 2024 failure. Because the record does not specify the defect, it is essential to check for developing structural corrosion on the rear members or leaf spring mounts, which are common failure points on this Ford Transit generation. Attention should be paid to the braking system for binding calipers and the exhaust system for leaks, as these are frequently the culprits in sudden failures on vehicles that have previously held clean records.
