2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD 4.1L Electric · E28 SAP

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-10-08 at 118,749 miles recorded a pass with no defects, but this follows a failed test two days earlier at the same mileage. The prior pass on 2024-12-20 at 116,619 miles also showed no defects, while the preceding failure on 2024-12-19 at identical mileage mirrored the same outcome. This pattern of alternating passes and failures without recorded issues suggests potential inconsistencies in testing or minor technical glitches rather than systemic mechanical faults. The absence of defects in all tests implies the vehicle met basic roadworthiness standards, though the frequency of failures raises questions about reliability. The mileage of 118,749 miles over four years equates to approximately 29,687 miles annually, significantly higher than average for a 2022 model. This rapid accumulation could accelerate wear on components like brake discs, suspension bushes, and drivetrain elements. Notably, the MOT records show no gaps in testing between 2024-01-03 and 2025-10-08, indicating consistent monitoring. However, the lack of defect entries in all tests does not confirm mechanical health, as some issues—such as minor corrosion or electrical faults—may not trigger MOT failures. A buyer should inspect the vehicle’s suspension for worn coil springs or binding calipers, as high mileage often exacerbates these issues. The battery and electrical systems, critical to a Tesla’s performance, warrant scrutiny for signs of degradation. Visual checks for rust on underbody components and corrosion around wheel arches are also advised, as these can develop unnoticed. While the MOT history shows no major faults, the frequent testing and high mileage suggest the need for a thorough pre-purchase inspection to confirm the vehicle’s mechanical integrity.
