2016 Volkswagen Touareg 3.0L Diesel · LP65 VEV

The most recent MOT inspection on 2nd October 2025 resulted in a pass, with a single advisory regarding damage to the nearside front tyre. Looking at the broader history, the maintenance trend for this Volkswagen Touareg is stable and shows a high level of compliance. Aside from a minor electrical failure in 2020 and sporadic advisories related to tyres and brake wear, the vehicle has avoided any significant mechanical or structural failures. This suggests a consistent approach to upkeep and a vehicle that has been kept in a generally good state of repair. At 62,928 miles, the vehicle has covered an average of approximately 6,300 miles per year over its ten-year lifespan. This represents relatively low annual usage for a vehicle of this class, which typically implies less wear on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain components compared to high-mileage counterparts. However, lower mileage can sometimes mask issues related to infrequent use, such as component stagnation or fluid degradation. The mileage profile appears healthy and consistent with a vehicle used for domestic or light-duty purposes rather than heavy long-distance commuting. During your inspection and test drive, pay close attention to the tyre condition. The recent advisories for a nail in the nearside rear and damage to the nearside front suggest the owner may be monitoring tyre health, but you should personally verify that there is no sidewall perishing, cracking, or bulging, which can occur on older rubber regardless of tread depth. Additionally, since a previous advisory noted thinning front brake pads, listen for any high-pitched squealing or metallic grinding during braking, and feel for any pulsations through the pedal that might indicate warped brake discs or uneven pad wear. Given the age and the relatively low mileage, you should also investigate time-based maintenance. Check the service book to ensure that fluids such as brake fluid and engine coolant have been changed according to the manufacturer's time intervals rather than solely on mileage. Inspect the undercarriage for signs of surface corrosion or binding calipers, which can develop if the vehicle has been stationary for extended periods. Finally, verify the health of the 12V battery, as low-usage vehicles are more susceptible to battery discharge or capacity loss, which can impact the complex electronic systems found in a Touareg.
