2005 Citroen Berlingo 1.9L Diesel · MW55 BDZ

The 2005 Citroen Berlingo’s roadworthiness status remains unconfirmed due to the absence of MOT tests within the last 28 months. The most recent record, dated 2023-10-17 at 75,259 miles, shows a pass with no defects, but this test occurred over three years ago. Subsequent entries from the same date indicate a fail, though no specific issues were recorded. The lack of detailed defect reports limits insight into mechanical trends, though the vehicle’s low annual mileage (3,584 miles/year) suggests infrequent use, which may mitigate wear on consumables but risks component stagnation. The mileage progression shows a gradual increase, rising from 66,501 miles in 2021 to 75,259 miles in 2023, a 8,758-mile gain over 22 months. This aligns with the vehicle’s age, but the sparse MOT history—only five tests across five years—creates gaps in assessing long-term maintenance. Notably, the 2022-10-27 fail at 68,377 miles coincided with a 66-mile increase from the prior test, hinting at potential short-term issues. However, the absence of recorded defects in passes or fails implies no critical failures were identified, though this may reflect incomplete data rather than optimal condition. A buyer should prioritize in-person inspection of suspension components, particularly bushes and coil springs, which degrade over time without regular use. Brake systems, including discs and calipers, warrant scrutiny for corrosion or binding, as low mileage can lead to seized parts. Structural integrity should also be checked, as older vehicles may develop rust in hidden areas. The lack of detailed MOT notes means physical examination is essential to confirm the vehicle’s current state beyond the recorded data.
