2010 MINI (R60) 1.6L Diesel · OV60 SKZ

This MINI R60 has maintained a clean MOT history with no defects recorded across five consecutive tests, the most recent of which occurred just 11 months ago on 9 October 2023. The absence of advisories or failings suggests the vehicle has consistently met DVSA’s roadworthiness standards for brakes, suspension, emissions, and structural integrity. However, the lack of any recorded issues does not preclude the need for a thorough independent inspection—particularly given the vehicle’s age and mileage—since MOT tests do not evaluate all wear-and-tear or hidden mechanical degradation. The mileage progression of 142,045 miles today indicates an average of 8,878 miles per year , a rate that aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age. There are no unusual gaps or spikes in mileage between tests, with the most recent interval covering 5,451 miles since the 2023 MOT. While this suggests regular driving rather than prolonged neglect, the consistent annual mileage also implies accelerated wear on high-stress components such as suspension bushes, brake calipers, and drivetrain synchronisers. The final MOT in 2019 was conducted at 113,725 miles , meaning the vehicle has not undergone a test since exceeding 120,000 miles —a milestone where many manufacturers recommend more frequent inspections of critical systems. Given the vehicle’s age and mileage, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of the suspension system , particularly the coil springs, bushes, and dampers , for signs of fatigue or corrosion. The brakes, though never failed in MOTs, may exhibit uneven wear or binding calipers after prolonged use, especially if the vehicle has been driven hard or in wet conditions. Corrosion around the wheel arches, sills, and subframe should also be assessed, as this is a common failure point on MINI R60 models. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions control components —though not flagged in past tests—should be checked for leaks or degraded catalytic converters, as these are prone to failure in vehicles approaching 16 years old . The absence of MOT advisories does not guarantee these areas are free from issues, and a pre-purchase inspection is essential to verify their condition.
