2013 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L Petrol · GF13 DVB

A pattern of intermittent mechanical failures characterizes this vehicle's recent inspection history, moving from significant suspension issues to more minor functional defects. The most recent test on 13 May 2026 saw a failure regarding insufficient windscreen washer liquid before a subsequent pass with no defects recorded. This follows a notable failure in November 2023 where both the nearside and offside front coil springs were recorded as fractured or broken. While the record shows several years of passing without defects, the presence of major failures involving structural suspension components and an inoperative engine malfunction indicator in 2021 suggests that the vehicle has required specific attention to critical safety and monitoring systems. The recorded mileage of 58,909 miles for a 2013 model indicates a low annual usage rate of approximately 4,531 miles. This level of accumulation is significantly lower than the UK average for a vehicle of this age. Mechanically, such low mileage can imply less wear on high-friction components like brake discs and engine internals, but it can also mean the vehicle has spent extended periods stationary. Long intervals between uses can sometimes lead to the degradation of rubber components or the seizing of braking mechanisms, though the MOT history does not explicitly record failures related to such stagnation. Prospective buyers should pay close attention to the suspension system during a test drive, given the previous failure of both front coil springs. Listen for any metallic clunking or knocking sounds when driving over speed bumps or uneven road surfaces, as these can indicate worn suspension bushes or damaged spring seats. Additionally, ensure the steering feels centered and that there is no pulling to one side under braking or during straight-line driving, which would suggest issues with the geometry or component integrity following the previous repairs. The 2021 failure regarding the engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) warrants a verification that all dashboard warning lights function correctly. During the test drive, observe the instrument cluster to ensure that no warning lights remain illuminated and that the MIL activates briefly when the ignition is turned to the on position. Given the low mileage and the specific failure of the washer system in 2026, also verify the operation of all exterior fluid delivery systems and ensure the windscreen is cleared effectively to confirm the recent repair was comprehensive.
